THERAPY FOR FEMALE HELPING PROFESSIONALS
In person in Chico, California and virtually throughout California
You can learn how to prioritize your own needs without becoming selfish.
Are you tired of being the one everyone relies on?
You care deeply about the people you love. You're responsible, capable, and used to being the one who gets things done. But, you're exhausted from always being the one who takes care of everyone else while your needs keep getting pushed aside.
Are you a nurse, teacher, social worker, or other helping professional struggling with anxiety and perfectionism?
You get accolades from co-workers and supervisors, but you still question your work.
Thoughts like, “Did I do enough?” and “Did I say the wrong thing?“ race through your mind as you drive home.
You not only question your performance at work but also other parts of your life…like how you are as a mother, a friend, a daughter…..all the things.
You look like you have it all together on the outside, and you do, but you have this relentless inner critic that doesn’t stop criticizing you and lowering your self-esteem. It makes your thoughts race and sometimes keeps you up at night. You constantly question yourself.
You so desperately want to enjoy this beautiful life that you’ve worked so hard to create, but you can’t.
You know how to strive and work hard. But, you struggle to relax and enjoy your days off. To savor today and enjoy the little moments in life.
I understand where you’re coming from.
And, I can help.
I can teach you practical steps to silence that pesky inner critical voice and tools to help you sleep better.
“Self-care” is all the rage and has become so cliché. But, you really do want to take better care of yourself.
Deep down you know you matter, you just don’t know how to connect to your needs in an endless sea of everyone else’s needs.
I specialize in helping high-achieving female professionals learn how to savor and enjoy the amazing life they’ve worked so hard to create.
I’ll teach you how to nurture your needs while still being there for your loved ones. Through practical and engaging imagery and metaphors, I’ll teach you tools to improve your day-to-day.
We can also dive deeper by exploring your childhood and young adulthood and dig up the roots to the perfectionism and anxiety. And, if you want to address trauma in a supportive and nurturing environment through brain science informed techniques like EMDR, we can do that, too.
Are you ready to get relief and start enjoying your life more?
Reach out. Let’s do this!
Hi, I'm Sarah.
I’m not just a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15 years of experience. I’m a deeply compassionate human who has been a client myself.
I became a therapist because I know what it feels like to be hurting—and to have one person make you feel like you're going to be okay.
In college, I had a therapist who became a bright spot during some of my darkest days. She was warm, down-to-earth, and real. She greeted me with a smile and listened to me.
And she changed my life.
She showed me the kind of therapist I wanted to become: someone who could sit with another person in the hard places and help them believe that things could be different.
That's the kind of therapist I strive to be for you.
You don't have to have the right words. You don't have to have everything figured out. And you don't have to worry about being too much.
I'll meet you where you are, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, and walk alongside you as you work toward something different.
You may be wondering….
Do I really need therapy if my life looks fine from the outside?
You don’t have to be falling apart to benefit from therapy.
I know you’re successful in your career, showing up for your family, maintaining your relationships, and doing everything you’re “supposed” to do—and you still feel anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or like you’re never quite doing enough.
Therapy can be a place to explore why you feel this way and what it would look like to stop living in constant self-monitoring and pressure.
You don’t have to wait for a crisis.
What if I’m just an overthinker? Isn’t that normal?
Overthinking is common. Living with a mind that rarely gives you a break is exhausting.
If you replay conversations, anticipate problems, worry about what people think, second-guess your decisions, or lie awake analyzing everything you said and did, therapy with me can help you understand what’s underneath that pattern—not just teach you another technique to temporarily quiet it.
I love being a high achiever. I don’t want therapy to make me less ambitious.
Neither do I.
Your drive, compassion, intelligence, and high standards aren't problems that need to be fixed.
The goal isn't to make you care less or accomplish less.
It’s to help you stop paying for your success with your peace.
Imagine being driven because you genuinely want something—not because you’re terrified of failing, disappointing someone, or not being enough.
I’m a helping professional. Will you understand what my work is like?
If you spend your days caring for other people, you may be very good at holding space for everyone else while having very little space left for yourself.
You might be a nurse, teacher, therapist, physician, social worker, attorney, or another professional who spends a lot of your life helping, caring, leading, or supporting others.
You’re used to being the capable one.
Therapy can be a place where you don't have to be.
I’ve been to therapy before and it wasn’t very helpful. What would be different this time?
It’s possible you’ve already learned coping skills, talked about your childhood, or gained insight into why you do what you do.
And yet you may still find yourself reacting in the same ways.
That doesn’t mean therapy “didn’t work” or that you failed at therapy.
Sometimes understanding something intellectually isn't enough to change how your nervous system responds.
Depending on your needs and goals, we may incorporate EMDR to help process experiences that continue to affect how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.
Do I have to know exactly what’s wrong before I start therapy?
No.
You might simply know:
“I’m exhausted.”
“I can’t turn my brain off.”
“I don’t know why I’m so hard on myself.”
“I feel responsible for everyone.”
“I just don’t feel like myself anymore.”
You don’t need to arrive with a diagnosis or a perfectly organized explanation.
We can figure out what’s happening together.
What if I’m worried that therapy will just give me more things to work on?
You already spend enough time trying to improve yourself.
Therapy isn't about creating another checklist of things you need to fix.
It’s about understanding yourself more deeply, developing self-trust, and learning to relate to yourself with the same compassion you so naturally offer other people.
You don't need another project. You need a place where you can finally exhale.
How do I know if we’re a good fit?
You don't have to know for sure before reaching out. This is why I offer the free 20 minute consultation.
A good fit matters, especially if you're someone who has spent years feeling misunderstood or like you have to explain yourself.
My hope is that you feel seen, understood, and respected—and that we can work together honestly and collaboratively toward the life you actually want.
You don't have to figure it all out before you reach out. We can start there.
