TEEN GIRLS CROCHET GROUP

Crafting Confidence And Calm, One Stitch At A Time

June 25, 2026 9-12 PM

Teen Girls Crochet Group

This Summer….

Help your daughter step away from screens, learn a mindful new skill, and build authentic friendships in a safe, supportive space.

Being a teen girl today is complicated. Between academic pressures, the constant noise of social media, and the natural struggles of figuring out who they are, it is incredibly easy for teens to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected. As a parent, you just want to see her confident, relaxed, and surrounded by good friends.

That is exactly why I created this group.

Teen Girl Crocheting

Why Crochet?

It might seem simple, but crochet is a powerful tool for mental well-being. Here is why it works:

  • It lowers the stakes for socializing: Sitting face-to-face can be intimidating for any teenager (especially introverts or neurodivergent teens). When hands are busy with yarn and a hook, the pressure is off. Eye contact is optional, and silences aren't awkward. I find that when girls are focused on a shared, creative task, the walls come down and conversations flow freely.

  • It acts as a natural stress reliever: The rhythmic, repetitive motions of crochet help regulate the nervous system, lower heart rates, and promote mindfulness. It is a quiet, screen-free break for an anxious mind.

  • It builds tangible self-esteem: There is profound power in starting with a simple string of yarn and turning it into something beautiful and functional. Completing a project provides a massive, undeniable boost in confidence and a physical reminder of what she is capable of achieving.

What Participants Will Experience:

HOUR ONE

Find her people:

Participants will connect with other girls in a relaxed, inclusive, & positive environment where everyone is learning and growing together.

HOUR TWO

Learn a lifelong skill (or practice it)

Participants will be introduced to the basic aspects of crochet. And if she already knows how to crochet, she should bring what she’s been working on!

HOUR THREE

Practice resilience:

Dropping a stitch or tangling yarn happens! Learning to unravel mistakes, laugh it off, & try again is a gentle way to practice self-compassion/problem-solving.

    QUESTIONS?

If you have questions or concerns, please email sarah@sarahsanderslmft.com.

Important Note: I am a psychotherapist specializing in women and girls with anxiety, but this group is not therapy. It’s “therapeutic” - meaning it’s designed to be emotionally safe, encouraging, and teaches healthy coping skills, but it’s not group therapy. It is educational, not process-focused. A client-therapist relationship is NOT established upon registration or participation in this group.
