SARAH SANDERS, LMFT EMDR THERAPIST

But what the heck is a therapy intensive?!

A therapy intensive is an accelerated form of therapy. It’s an incredible way to quickly achieve your goals and feel better faster!

Intensive therapy sessions with me are 4 hour sessions that give you the time and space you need to process difficult topics that aren’t as easily processed in 50-minute weekly sessions.

If you’re feeling curious, book a free consultation so we can discuss how an intensive EMDR therapy session could help you.

I offer one and two day intensives in 4 hour blocks of time.

An open notebook with a pen rests on a wooden table near a white ceramic mug, with a cozy knit blanket on a window seat and a potted plant by the window revealing a mountain view outside.

Could you benefit from an intensive?

- You feel like weekly hour long sessions just aren’t long enough. (It’s okay, I’m a talker too and that one hour session DOES fly by!)

- You struggle to open up about the topic that you know you need to talk about. (I get it, it is hard to talk about that painful crap, so a long supportive session makes all the difference in the world.)

- You want more time to process your struggle on a deep level. (Let me guess, by the time you’re done talking about your week, there’s not enough time to talk about the thing you planned on talking about. Ask me how I know.)

- It’s difficult to find the time in your schedule for weekly therapy sessions. (I know, adding one more appointment in your busy week is just too much to ask!)

If any of these speak to you, you could benefit from an intensive!

There are multiple reasons intensives are a beautiful option for busy women, but here are the main ones:

- Intensives accelerate the therapeutic process. (Let’s get you feeling better faster!)

- You can experience faster results in a shorter amount of time. (Without the start and stop of weekly sessions, you can dive into processing your trauma.)

- They are more cost-effective than weekly therapy sessions. (Really? Yes, it’s true! It’s amazing and beautiful.)

- And, they are less of a time commitment. (Healing and no weekly sessions? Yesssss please!)

When you evict toxic shame through an EMDR intensive, all this is possible!

Hi, I'm Sarah.

I’m not just a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 15 years of experience. I’m a deeply compassionate human who has been a client myself.

I became a therapist because I know what it feels like to be hurting—and to have one person make you feel like you're going to be okay.

In college, I had a therapist who became a bright spot during some of my darkest days. She was warm, down-to-earth, and real. She greeted me with a smile and listened to me.

And she changed my life.

She showed me the kind of therapist I wanted to become: someone who could sit with another person in the hard places and help them believe that things could be different.

That's the kind of therapist I strive to be for you.

You don't have to have the right words. You don't have to have everything figured out. And you don't have to worry about being too much.

I'll meet you where you are, help you make sense of what you're experiencing, and walk alongside you as you work toward something different.

THE BREAKDOWN OF AN EMDR INTENSIVE

*

THE BREAKDOWN OF AN EMDR INTENSIVE *

The longer length of the intensive is what really makes it shine! So here’s a representation of what the healing arc can look like in a 4 hour EMDR Intensive (dark line) versus a 50 minute session (light line).

More time creates more space for healing, hope, and transformation.

Why Work With Me?

As someone who has done my own trauma work, I personally know what it’s like to face the pain, heartache, and negative beliefs you’ve lived with for far too long. I have the head and heart knowledge to lead you through the pain and into freedom.

Like a compassionate and knowledgeable guide, I’ll be with you every step of the way. I’ll work with you to confidently facilitate your healing and growth from my expertise with working with women over the past 15 years.

I’d love to see you experience the amazing freedom and joy that births from digging down to the root of your shame and pulling it out. Let’s chat!

You may be wondering….

What can I expect from my intensive? I’m new to this way of doing therapy.

Great question! The therapy intensive model is not as well-known as the traditional weekly therapy hour so let me explain a little more. Since the focus of the intensive is on a specific, deep topic, which tends to be triggering, I focus on gathering information on what regulates your nervous system (ie good experiences, what you enjoy, happy memories) as much as I focus on learning about the history of the topic we’re focusing on. That way I can be more effective in creating an atmosphere that is supportive while you do the hard work of reprocessing the trauma.

Why is a self-care kit included in the intensive?

Since the intensive is inherently a more “intense” deep dive into the topic you want to address, I do my best to make the experience more nurturing to your nervous system. This is why I curate a self-care kit unique to your preferences and comfort. My clients report the self-care kit makes them feel special, known, and important. They also describe the intensive as a retreat-style feel because of the self-care kit.

How do I know if I’m ready for an intensive?

In general, you are ready for an intensive if you have an idea of a trauma or topic you want to address, have a good support system and good coping skills, feel ready to move past this issue, and are not in crisis or suicidal. Feel free to book a free consultation to discuss any reservations and answer any questions.

What if I’m really interested but the cost is holding me back?

I completely understand the hesitation—an intensive is a significant financial commitment. Because this is a premium, highly specialized service, I want to make sure it feels like the right step for your healing journey. When considering a major investment in your health, it can sometimes be helpful to ask yourself: What is the emotional and daily cost to me if I don't make this investment right now? Timing is everything, and there is absolutely no pressure. I’m happy to talk through this during your free consultation so we can figure out together if this makes sense for you financially and emotionally at this time.
